The scope of my design work at Blackbird was multidimensional and spanned across the consumer-facing, business-facing, and internal sectors of the company. I designed all content for Blackbird’s social media channels, designed each website (blackbirdgo.com and myblackbird.com) and lead both of the projects from start to finish, created written and visual content for the Discover blog, and managed keeping the Blackbird visual brand identity strong throughout the process of two acquisitions.

The majority of my day-to-day work was creating social media content and visual elements to support our marketing content on our blog and websites. Below are samples of those marketing materials. Unfortunately, after a recent acquisition, the company Blackbird no longer exists, and therefore all the content we created no longer has a home on the internet.

Weed Like to Talk Podcast

The highlight of my experience working at Blackbird was getting to take my idea for a podcast and turning it into a reality in the form of Weed Like To Talk. When social media kept kicking us off the platform because of federal cannabis restrictions, we needed to pivot and find a new way to speak to our audience, and a podcast was a perfect way to do that. My colleague JamalEdeen Barghouti and I created 15 episodes about cannabis culture, plant science, the history of the plant through a queer perspective. It was fun, challenging, and expansive for each of us as well as for Blackbird’s brand voice and reach.
